Day 3 – Masks and Costumes: Hiding from Spirits

Subtitle: Why did disguises become tradition?
Dressing up wasn’t cute—it was survival.

Devotional Message: Ancient Celts wore masks and costumes to hide from wandering spirits, hoping to trick them into leaving them alone.

Today, costumes are celebrated, but the root was fear of demonic attack. Satan hasn’t changed his strategy—he still loves masks, disguises, and deception.

God warns us that the enemy masquerades as an angel of light.

The question is: are we putting on the mask of culture or the armor of God?

Scripture: And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14 AMP)

Reflection Question: Am I putting on masks to “fit in” rather than living authentically in Christ as God originally designed?

Challenge: Replace one “costume” of culture with one piece of God’s armor today. (you can find God’s Armor in Ephesians 6)

Salvation Call: Heavenly Father, I come to you as a sinner in need of your grace.  I repent of my sins and surrender my life to Jesus Christ. Jesus, I ask for you to be my Lord and Savior over every area of my life. Let Your will be done in my life Lord. Jesus, place in me Your Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be my helper through all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
