Day 4 – Fires and Sacrifices

Subtitle: When did fire mean fear, not warmth?
Not all fires are holy fires.

Devotional Message: At Samhain, people lit huge bonfires and sometimes even sacrificed animals to appease pagan gods and spirits.

They believed fire had power to ward off darkness. The enemy loves to counterfeit God’s truth— while pagans lit fires for protection, God Himself is the consuming fire who protects His people.

Today, Halloween still plays with fire through occult rituals, séances, and witchcraft.

We don’t need counterfeit fire—we need the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture: For our God is [indeed] a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29 AMP)

Reflection Question: Am I turning to false sources for protection instead of God’s fire?

Challenge: Pray and ask God to burn away fear and fill you with His Holy Spirit fire.

Salvation Call: Heavenly Father, I come to you as a sinner in need of your grace.  I repent of my sins and surrender my life to Jesus Christ. Jesus, I ask for you to be my Lord and Savior over every area of my life. Let Your will be done in my life Lord. Jesus, place in me Your Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be my helper through all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
