Boo! Fear Not. 31 Days of Spiritual Armor.
Day 1 – Halloween’s Roots: Darkness Dressed Up
Subtitle: Where did Halloween come from?
What if I told you Halloween isn’t innocent fun—but a spiritual trap?
Devotional Message: Halloween traces back to the Celtic festival of Samhain, when people believed the veil between the living and dead was thin.
Costumes and fires were used to hide from or appease spirits. What was once a pagan ritual has been modernized into candy and costumes, but the roots remain—fear, death, and spiritual darkness.
God’s Word is clear: do not imitate the nations who follow other gods. Halloween isn’t just harmless tradition—it celebrates what Jesus came to destroy.

Scripture: “When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable (repulsive) practices of those nations. (Deuteronomy 18:9 AMP)
Reflection Question: What “traditions” have I accepted without asking if they honor God?
Challenge: Research one historical fact about Halloween and ask the Holy Spirit for discernment.
Salvation Call: Heavenly Father, I come to you as a sinner in need of your grace. I repent of my sins and surrender my life to Jesus Christ. Jesus, I ask for you to be my Lord and Savior over every area of my life. Let Your will be done in my life Lord. Jesus, place in me Your Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be my helper through all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
