Day 2 – "When Science and Scripture Agree"

Sanctified Skeptic: Finding Faith Through the Facts

Day 2 – When Science and Scripture Agree

You don’t have to choose between your brain and your Bible.

You’ve been told it’s either science or faith—facts or fairy tales.
But what if that’s a false choice?
What if science and Scripture are asking different questions—and both point to the same Designer?

Devotional

Science seeks to understand how things work.
Faith seeks to understand why they matter.
They’re not enemies—they’re allies when rightly understood.

God is the author of both the natural laws that govern the universe and the moral laws that govern the soul.
The more we learn about creation, the more evidence we find of design, order, and intention—not chaos.

Psalm 19:1 (AMP) says:

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And the expanse [of heaven] is declaring the work of His hands.”

From DNA’s coding language to the fine-tuning of the cosmos, creation testifies not only to existence—but intelligence.
And Scripture isn’t scared of science—it welcomes honest investigation.

Romans 1:20 reminds us that:

“His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation]…”

So no—faith is not the opposite of fact.
In many ways, faith begins where science runs out—and wonder begins.

Devotional Scriptures

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and the expanse [of heaven] is declaring the work of His hands.”
Psalm 19:1 AMP

“For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship…”
Romans 1:20 AMP

Reflection

Where have you felt tension between science and Scripture?
How does seeing creation as evidence of design shift your view?
Ask God to give you wisdom to see how both faith and science reveal truth in different ways.

Declaration & Prayer

I see God’s hand in creation and design (Psalm 19:1)
I embrace both scientific discovery and divine truth (Romans 1:20)
I honor God with both my heart and mind (Matthew 22:37)
I believe God is the source of all truth—natural and spiritual (John 16:13)

God of creation, thank You for giving us both Scripture and science.
Help me seek truth with humility, wisdom, and wonder.
Let my pursuit of knowledge lead me to deeper awe of who You are.
You are not afraid of my questions—so I bring them all to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge

Take 10 minutes today to research a scientific discovery that points to intelligent design (e.g., fine-tuning of the universe, DNA coding, or the human brain).
Write down what it shows you about God’s power and wisdom.
