Day 6 – Candy-Coated Darkness

Subtitle: Do the sweet treats of darkness have bitter roots?
The devil doesn’t mind sugar-coating sin.  In fact—it’s one of his strategies.

Devotional Message: Trick-or-treating began as a pagan practice of leaving food offerings to wandering spirits.

Today, it looks like innocent fun—but its foundation was spiritual bribery. The enemy often wraps sin in sweetness, making it look harmless.

God calls us to taste and see that He is good—not to nibble at the table of demons.

The candy may be sweet, but the roots are bitter. We must be wise about what we allow into our homes and hearts.

Scripture: You cannot drink [both] the Lord’s cup and the cup of demons. You cannot share in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons [thereby becoming partners with them]. (1 Corinthians 10:21 AMP)

Reflection Question: What “sweet” things in my life may actually have dark roots?

Challenge: Substitute Halloween treats with a Christ-centered family activity.

Salvation Call: Heavenly Father, I come to you as a sinner in need of your grace.  I repent of my sins and surrender my life to Jesus Christ. Jesus, I ask for you to be my Lord and Savior over every area of my life. Let Your will be done in my life Lord. Jesus, place in me Your Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be my helper through all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
