Revelation #46: (part 2 of 3) What are the signs of addiction?

Types of Addiction (mine was toxic relationships and nearly destroyed my life) …

-Substance Addictions (ex. alcohol, caffeine, cannabis, hallucinogens, anti-anxiety drugs, inhalants, opioids, adderall, cocaine, methamphetamine, tobacco/nicotine – smoking/vaping)

-Non-Substance Addictions (ex. gambling, eating, exercising/dieting, shopping, shoplifting/risky behaviors, sex, pornography, gaming, internet/technology, toxic relationships)

(part 2) Question: What are the signs of addiction?

A) Inability to stop, increased tolerance, intense focus on the substance or activity, lack of control, singular focus, being secretive, appearance changes, mood swings, personal problems or health issues, withdrawal (irritable or anxious when stopping).

B) Loss of desire to have a relationship with God and/or falling away from Jesus. Annoyed by the mention of “God” and especially “Jesus”. The inability to speak openly about “Jesus” as your Lord and Savior. Almost may seem like you have an “allergy” to “Jesus”.

C) A and B

Answer: In MANY CASES both A and B

I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. ~Romans 7:15-20 (NLT)

Hidden Battles: Episode #7 – The Shadow Man

Today in this episode called “The Shadow Man”, I’ll share one of the demonic attacks from my memoir in which, to my surprise, I have over the last year learned that many other people have seen and experienced this exact same demonic entity.  Over the last year, I’ve had numerous people share with me, having seen and some even experienced, nearly identical attacks from what I am calling “The Shadow Man”.  They have admitted they did not think they would ever tell anyone about their experience until to their shock they read my story “The Shadow Man” in my memoir. Although, not ready to openly share with the world their experiences, I hope my sharing will empower them to take a step in faith and also share the truth of these hidden battles when they are ready as well.

Hidden Battles: Episode #13 – Experience And Endurance Leads To The Crown Of Life

In this episode of “Experience and Endurance Leads To The Crown Of Life,” I’ll be sharing a short story about a question that was asked during our small group studies the other day, which led to deep reflections on why we are tested in this lifetime and how it is for our benefit that we should experience, endure, and overcome through Jesus to pass the test and receive victory in this life and the life to come! I’ll unpack what all this means in this episode!

Hidden Battles: Episode #18 – What Does Sin Do To Us?

Today, in this episode, I will skip a couple of chapters from my book “Blinded By Hidden Battles” as we read the story of Jesus (His Story) last week. In this episode, I’m going to ask you to think about “your story” as we do a deep dive into the chapter called “Know Your Sins” … “What is sin and what does it do to us?” I challenge you to take out a notepad and pen and jot down whatever may come up for you when I read this chapter from “Blinded By Hidden Battles.” The impact of sin goes beyond what I will share in this chapter. I will dive into the “science of sin” in another episode.
